Dravya Guna Vijñāna: Foundations of Āyurvedic Herbology & Pharmacology, Module 1 (25 credits)

This comprehensive course provides a practical foundation in classical Āyurvedic herbology and pharmacology through the study of Dravya Guṇa Vijñāna. This self-paced, on-demand course consists of 10 pre-recorded classes. Students will deepen their understanding of herbal energetics through Rasādi Pañcakam (rasa, guṇa, vīrya, vipāka, and prabhāva), while developing foundational knowledge of classical herbal formulation, preparations, anupāna, dosage, and timing of administration. This module focuses on classical herbal formulations and individual herbs in the materia medica, with emphasis on Agni Dīpana, Āma Pācana, Virecana, and Vibandhaghna herbal dravyas. Through in-depth study of individual herbs, case studies, and clinical application, students develop skills to select, combine, and apply herbs according to each individual's constitution and condition within the broader principles of Āyurvedic Cikitsā.
